WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Midwestern State University of Texas and the American Red Cross Texas Big Country Chapter collaborated on a blood drive on Feb. 20.
This drive was held in response to a national blood shortage.
Over 65 people came out to donate, they were also given snacks and a lunch provided by the campus.
Winter months tend to see fewer blood donations. However, the weather in January 2024 resulted in more blood drive cancellations than in all of 2023. That’s 534 canceled blood drives due to inclement weather. Over 15,000 blood and platelet units went uncollected.
