MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Montgomery leaders say it was the most visited cities in the state in 2023. To keep the flow of visitors and businesses going, two new restaurants are coming to Perry Street.

Little Donkey and Hero Donuts are being built across from the Legacy Museum, along with two new hotels.

“If your downtown is vibrant, typically that growth mushrooms out beyond downtown,” said Montgomery Main Street Executive Director Darryl Washington.

Adding to this vibrance is the new Lorraine’s Bakery on Dexter Avenue. The owner, Lorraine Richie, said she was intrigued by the city’s history to “come here from New Jersey and meet people and feel the love, see the resiliency, and all that Dexter Avenue specifically represents.”

Richie started the storefront just for Montgomery. She had many clients from the area all the way in New Jersey on social media.
