New York man struck, killed on I-84 in East Hartford [Video]

EAST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – A man from Brooklyn, NY was struck and killed on Interstate 84 in East Hartford on Tuesday night.

State police identified the pedestrian as 28-year-old Randy Casado,

The crash happened in the area of exit 58.

Troopers responded around 8:27 p.m.

According to state police, a driver headed west on I-84 westbound, just east of the exit, and in the HOV lane.

Casado was in the HOV lane directly in front of the driver and was hit.

The driver stopped between the HOV and left lanes.

Casado was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver was transported to a hospital for minor injuries. A passenger in the vehicle was not hurt.

The collision remained under investigation on Wednesday morning.

Anyone with information, or dashcam video of what happened, was asked to contact state police at 860-534-1098.
