Next steps for state question to raise Oklahoma’s minimum wage – KTEN [Video]

OKLAHOMA (KTEN) — Monday, the Oklahoma Supreme Court declined to hear further arguments regarding the constitutionality of State Question 832 that would raise minimum wage in the state.

Currently minimum wage is $7.25 an hour, if passed the measure would increase the rate to $9 by 2025, gradually increasing by $1.50 each year until 2030 after that the wage would be based on federal cost of living statistics.

I do still think it would be unfair to agriculture and put us more in a bind than we already are, said” Bob Drake Murray County Farm Bureau President. “The impact will be felt later on it won’t be immediately or felt with the first raises, it will be felt at a later date and in later years.”

The Oklahoma State Chamber and the Oklahoma Farm Bureau joined forces with concerns on the constitutionality and overall impact of the proposed question.
