Niger’s government announced on Saturday (March 16) that it was breaking off “with immediate effect” its military cooperation agreement with the United States, putting US counter-terrorist operations in West Africa at risk. The decision means US military and civilians staff are likely to leave Niger where the US has a major drone base. FRANCE 24’s Wassim Nasr tells us more and gives us his analysis.
