Nixon-Smiley Livestock Show – Wilson County News [Video]

The 2024 Nixon-Smiley Livestock Show has come and gone, and left some exhibitors with big smiles — and big payouts!

The show was held March 8-9.

Oscar Gamez had a stellar show, taking the Grand Champion and showmanship titles in the broiler competition, improving on his 2023 effort, where he took the Reserve title in broilers. Gamez also earned the Reserve Champion honor in the roaster competition this year, with Ana Gamez claiming the Grand Champion roaster title; she also took the Reserve title in broilers. Oscar’s broilers brought $6,000 in the auction; Ana’s earnings came to $5,400.

It was a great show for Skylie Kitchens, also. In last year’s show, she took the Reserve Champion local bred steer honor; in the 2024 show, she claimed Grand Champion honors! Her steer earned $10,000 in the auction. Taking the Reserve and showmanship titles, and earning $7,000 in the auction, was Wyatt McKinney.
