BOSTON, Ma. – No. 3 seed Maine men’s hockey’s Hockey East playoff run was cut short Friday night as the Black Bears fell to the Terriers 4-1 in the tournament semifinals.
Nine minutes into the contest, BU struck first with Ryan Greene scoring off an assist from Quinn Huston. The Terriers then made it 2-0 nine minutes into the second period with Lane Huston cashing on the power-play off the sticks of Quinn Huston and Macklin Celebrini.
After a BU goal was waved off, Maine got back within striking distance in the third as Lynden Breen scored from the right circle with just over 13 minutes remaining in regulation. The Terriers answered right back, though, with Greene scoring on the power play just four minutes later to make it 3-1.
A Sam Stevens empty-net goal followed as BU now moves to face No. 1 Boston College in Saturday’s title game.
