STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York City just became the first American city to join the ranks of Mumbai, London, and Oslo with Mayor Eric Adams’ newly established climate budgeting practice, a written statement detailed.
The news comes from his fiscal year 2025 executive budget.
The practice is described as follows: “Climate budgeting is a process that incorporates science-based climate considerations into the city’s budget decision-making process by evaluating how actions and spending today contribute to meeting longer-term climate targets and needs.”
