Okaloosa Island woman accused of kidnapping 2-year-old, Florida deputies say [Video]

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) – A woman in northwest Florida is accused of snatching a little girl from her mother, then locking herself and the child inside her Billfish Avenue apartment.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, 52-year-old Kim Keeling of Okaloosa Island kidnapped the 2-year-old around 11:20 a.m. Friday. They said the child’s mother broke a window trying to get inside the apartment.

Shortly afterward, a deputy showed up and ordered Keeling to turn over the child. When she ignored the commands, the deputy climbed through the broken window and found Keeling holding the toddler and a rolling pin, the OCSO said. The deputy was able to arrest her quickly.

Keeling allegedly told deputies she took the child from the mother because she was afraid the child was going to fall down the outdoor stairs.

Keeling is charged with kidnapping and interference with custody of a child.

Authorities said the toddler was not hurt.
