Palmer Candy recalls white-coated treats over salmonella risk [Video]

WASHINGTON — Nearly 30 candy products that included a liquid white-coating have been recalled over concerns about possible salmonella contamination. 

Palmer Candy Company said its liquid coating supplier notified them that an ingredient from one of their suppliers may have been contaminated. 

The Iowa-based candy company voluntarily recalled 29 different varieties of treats that were distributed nationwide at Walmart, HyVee, Target and Dollar General, as well as to distributors in Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

The recalled items were sold under several brand names including Palmer, Freshness Guaranteed, Sweet Smiles, Snackin’ With The Crew, Casey’s, Sconza Chocolates, Favorite Day Bakery, Sunny Select, Urge!, Kwik Trip Inc.
