Parents, students demand accountability from Chandler Unified School District on teen violence [Video]

CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — During the Chandler Unified School District’s Board meeting Wednesday night, parents and students demanded action against teen violence and district accountability.

During public comment, a Basha High School student claimed she’s been bullied, not by students, but by school staff.

Later, another student in the district, his sister and mother all said he has been wrongly suspended after defending himself in a fight a classmate started after school. They said it happened Monday.

The mother believes the suspension could be racial discrimination because her son is Black.

“My child was visibly injured, heavily bleeding from the mouth and no one did nothing. Where was your security? It is alarming that there was no one on site to prevent the altercation, yet the SRO from Bogle was present at the home of the attacker,” she said.

Superintendent Frank Narducci said the board will be looking into the incident.
