Police: Man arrested after approaching students during recess [Video]

The man was arrested Friday on suspicion of attempted kidnapping, Aurora police said.

AURORA, Colo. — A man was arrested after approaching students during recess at an elementary school Friday, the Aurora Police Department said. 

The police department and Cherry Creek School District said it happened Friday afternoon during fifth grade recess at Black Forest Hills Elementary School on Glasgow Drive in southeast Aurora. Police said an unknown man was outside on school property, walking up to children. Police said it appeared the man “attempted to grab a young boy at one point.” 

The man left school grounds before officers arrived, police said. Officers found him nearby, and he was arrested later that day on suspicion of attempted kidnapping. 

Aurora police said the man, 33-year-old Solomon Galligan, is a registered sex offender. 

The district said school staff brought students inside from recess and called district security when the incident happened. They had an increased security and police presence …
