Police report illegal cannabis was sold out of the Savvy Smoker [Video]

Mar Aliyhry, 29, from the Bronx, N.Y., allegedly sold marijuana out of the smoke shop.

WESTPORT, Conn. — The manager of a Westport smoke shop has been arrested for conducting illegal cannabis sales at the business on Post Road East, Westport police said on Thursday.

Omar Aliyhry, 29, was identified as the manager who was responsible for allegedly purchasing the items sold in the store, police said. Aliyhry, who resides in the Bronx, N.Y., was arrested on April 26 and charged with sale 1KG or more of cannabis and conspiracy to commit sale 1KG or more cannabis, according to police.

Westport police launched an investigation into the Savvy Smoker in December 2023 regarding illegal cannabis sales after complaints were made about illegal activity, police said.

After undercover officers bought illegal cannabis products, Westport police said they used search warrants to reveal that the business was allegedly selling illegal cannabis products in violation of their license.
