BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – Kyle Rittenhouse was at the center of controversy in 2020. He went to trial for killing two Black Lives Matter protestors in Kenosha, Wisconsin, but was later acquitted after claiming self-defense.
On the evening of Wednesday, March 27, Rittenhouse visited Western Kentucky University to speak on the Second Amendment, and the “lies” of the Black Lives Matter movement.
WKU’s Turning Point USA chapter, which describes itself as a way to empower citizens against the “radical left,” sponsored the event. WKU has faced both scrutiny, and praise, for allowing the organization to host Rittenhouse on campus.
“It is just disappointing. I would like to be a part of a university that supports humanity. It is not about politics, which is what people make it out to be,” said Summer Shannon, the President of the Bowling Green Freedom Walkers.
