ROCHESTER, Minn.-After the Rochester Public Schools technology levy failed at the polls in November, students, teachers, parents and ISAIAH worked together to set up a forum to explain the need for funding in education.
ISAIAH is an interfaith coalition with the goal of addressing community issues.
Over 100 people were at the forum to discuss and support public education.
Rochester Public School parent and public education supporter Kim Harris says, “There are a lot of us in here who are excited about what’s happening in our schools and excited for more opportunities and we need to be more visible and more vocal.”
The group discussed how public education can cost upwars of $205,000 to educate a kid through grade 12. Part of the discussion included an explanation of how more funding from taxpayers could do more to support students.
