WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Purdue University will play a significant role in a new National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engine.
The Great Lakes Water Innovation Engine (ReNEW) aims to discover, develop and deploy technologies to clean the Great Lakes.
This project is expected to attract water-intensive manufacturers and new jobs to the region.
Purdue’s involvement with the project will help define and advance strategies that eliminate toxic “forever chemicals” and also extract valuable, reusable minerals from wastewater.
Linda Lee, a distinguished professor of Agronomy is Purdue’s principal investigator and part of the ReNEW leadership.
Lee will co-lead work to develop and commercialize technologies that will help separate forever chemicals and contaminants that harm people and the environment.
