Questions remain about announced USPS changes to Sioux Falls facility [Video]

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The United States Postal Service (USPS) announced it would be keeping the Sioux Falls processing center open, moving forward with its “Delivering for America” plan, but some question whether the plan is accomplishing the goal of improving service.

The USPS said that the change to a local processing center would improve mail flow and modernize the Sioux Falls facility, but the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) disagrees.

The USPS release led with their promise to keep the facility open and nearly $13 million in investments, while the APWU has been worried about how sending mail to Omaha will create potential delays.

President of South Dakota’s chapter of the APWU, Todd West said that the USPS studies were not done in good faith and they used the studies to reach predetermined conclusions.
