Scores of kids and grownups learned about the positive impact trees have on our environment.

ROCHESTER, Minn. – There were around 3,000 people at RCTC for the Arbor Day celebration. There was free food and games for the elementary school kids. One of the biggest aspects of the event was tree giveaways and educating the community how important trees are. 

Maier Tree & Lawn Service Sales Representative Tyler Lindblom says trees are vital as they can provide shade to your house and reduce the energy bill. 

“Watering is very important, especially with the last couple of years of drought that we’ve had,” said Lindblom. “The other thing I’ve been talking about to a lot of people about is deer are eating the trees. So putting some sort of protection cage or something around them to make sure deer and rabbits aren’t eating them as well.”
