RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Americans are being scammed every day on digital payment platforms. Platforms like Venmo and Zelle are the most commonly used. Digital payments and online money transfers are now some of the most common ways people are sending money. “Person to person, or P2P. It’s also called peer-to-peer payments. Those are where you can send cash to another person. It makes it very convenient to send money to friends and family,” said Mike Dietrich, Greater Nevada Credit Union’s Chief Technology Officer.

Digital cash platforms, like Venmo, Cash App and Zelle are widely used and attract users with the platform’s efficiency. “With anything quick and easy it opens up opportunities for fraudsters to utilize the service for frauds or scams,” added Dietrich.
