School bus driver had preliminary BAC of .133 while waiting to pick up students, police say [Video]

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ/Gray News) – A school bus driver in Kentucky was charged Tuesday with public intoxication while she was waiting to take students home.

According to a citation issued by the Flatwoods Police Department, Lisa Nichols, 57, was waiting for Greenup County students at an event.

A staff member alerted police, and Nichols admitted to drinking during dinner at a local restaurant.

Officers said the bus driver failed a preliminary breath test with results of .133 and showed signs of being intoxicated.

Flatwoods Police charged Nichols with alcohol intoxication in a public place.

According to Greenup County Schools Superintendent Traysea Moresea, no students were ever on the school bus with Nichols after she was found to be drinking.

School administrators ensured all bus routes were covered.

Nichols is no longer employed by Greenup County Schools.
