Secretary of State visits site of proposed gravel pit in Casper, meets nearby residents [Video]

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – The controversy surrounding the proposed gravel pit near Casper Mountain continues.

On Thursday night, members of the Coates Road and Squaw Creek Gravel Pit Resistance Group met with Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray to discuss community members’ concerns about the project. Before the meeting, Secretary Gray had the opportunity to tour the potential mining site. He said the visit opened his eyes to the issue, and is something his colleagues on the State Board of Land Commissioners need to address.

“They need to see and hear what I have seen and heard today. It’s very important they get that as well. He continued, “How the board responds to that I think is a very important question, and what I have been saying is that we make it very clear that we will back up the {rejection} of a conditional use permit by the county.”
