PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The security video was the key. Until police watched the video, they had heard conflicting stories of what happened in the hallway near the pool at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix on May 29, 2022.
At least ten officers responded to the call from the hotel that day. All they knew was that someone had been stabbed, and there was an altercation involving a hotel guest and a security guard.
Officers immediately began interviewing witnesses, as well as the security guard. “Basically, the dude pulled the knife on security and security disarmed him,” said one police officer on scene that day. The statement was captured on body worn camera video obtained by Arizona’s Family Investigates.
“The victim tried to get in with prohibited items. The guard told him no. The guy pulled a knife on the guard,” said another officer in another video.
