SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – On Thursday, dozens of students showcased their skills in welding at CTE Academy.
The day was part of Marmen Energy’s annual weld-off competition where young students demonstrate their craftsmanship and innovation with a written and skills test, all while showing instructors they can complete jobs safely.
This year, students were tasked with making a toolbox.
“Just to see the excitement in their faces and really getting into the competition is really awesome to see and we love coming back every year for the kids and I think they really enjoy it,” said Leah Stelley with Marmen Energy.
This was the sixth year of the event that included students from all four Sioux Falls public high schools.
