Skeptics SCOFF at record Trump fundraising claim [Video]

With the news that Joe Biden had held an event in New York City that raised $25 million for his campaign, Donald Trump just had to respond. He announced that his Saturday night fundraiser would double the amount, then boasted that it had brought in almost exactly double — $50.5 million — for his presidential campaign.

In fact, Trump’s allies are all touting the success of his fundraiser — Kelly Loeffler (who you may remember lost her special election in Georgia in 2021 while Trump was telling everyone that elections were “rigged”) is repeating the claim that it’s the ” largest political fundraiser in American history.”

Trump friend Alex Bruesewitz touted the promise that it would be bigger than the Biden event despite Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton joining the latter. Even the Republican National Committee is sharing video clips of Trump and his wife looking like the unhappiest American Gothic parody ever and declaring the event “record-shattering.”
