SkillsUSA Statewide Championship held at Fairmont State University [Video]

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — From March 22-23, Fairmont State University is hosting the SkillsUSA West Virginia Championship where students from career and technical centers all across the state will compete and see who has what it takes to make it to Nationals.

“They are here to showcase their skills, and what they have learned in their CTE program,” said West Virginia SkillsUSA Treasurer Maddie Lambert. “So, there are many kids here from welding, there’s certified nursing assistant programs. Anything from carpentry to robotics.”

During her junior year of high school in 2023, Lambert went through the SkillsUSA program and participated in the therapeutic services track. This year as a senior, Lambert is enrolled in a co-op program, which will allow her to enter the workforce as soon as she completes four more educational courses.
