Spokane Conservation District seeks donations for Spokanes first permanent Farmers Market [Video]

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – As a part of a years-long effort to revitalize a 50-acre quarry, the Spokane Conservation District plans to turn an old Scale House – where trucks would measure out how much asphalt they were putting on their trucks – into a hub for local agriculture.

“This will be a place that people will come to because there’s something going on here that they want to be involved in,” Conservation District Director Vicki Carter said.

The market will have space for several vendors, along with an industrial kitchen for food preparation and education.

“It’s something Spokane has talked about for a long time, but has not had a lot of momentum getting it done,” Carter said.
