HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -The month of May is often the wettest and stormiest of the year. No argument there after the weekend thunder and rain pattern spilled into Monday. Already parts of the region have measured 1″-3″ or rain before new rains move in. Given we have 3 more days of these sudden downpours, the threshold for high water is rather low. That means flash flooding of streams will likely occur as we get into the middle of the week.

The wind side of the storm equation starts with the pent-up energy of the air flow in the clouds here in May. Before the slower winds of the summer doldrums set in, air currents aloft are about to pick up the next few days.
