SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – On Wednesday, Governor Kristi Noem was banished from a third Native American Reservation.

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, whose reservation covers parts of both South Dakota and North Dakota, announced that the governor was banished from its reservation, citing what they consider racially charged public comments as the reasoning behind the ban.

“Governor Kristi Noem’s wild and irresponsible attempt to connect tribal leaders and parents with Mexican drug cartels is a sad reflection of her fear-based politics that do nothing to bring people together to solve problems,” said SRST Chairwoman Janet Alkire. “Rather than make uninformed and unsubstantiated claims, Noem should work with tribal leaders to increase funding and resources for tribal law enforcement and education.”

Standing Rock now joins the Oglala and Cheyenne River Nations as tribes that have banned Noem this year.
