A rise in domestic violence incidents, including three deaths in the past 10 days, is causing concern in Milwaukee.”I don’t know that there’s a phrase that says we’re beyond the state of emergency,” said Carmen Pitre, the executive director of Sojourner Family Peace Center. Pitre’s sentiment follows a string of domestic violence-related killings. “This has been a very bad week for families in Milwaukee,” Pitre added. A 56-year-old man was shot to death near 80th Street and Hope Avenue on Wednesday morning. This marks the fifth deadly domestic violence case this year, according to Milwaukee police. “There’s way too many people who are suffering and way too many people who are hurting other people,” Pitre said.
