An hours-long standoff at an apartment complex in Waianae has come to an end. Honolulu Police announced that they arrested the suspect just before 8 a.m.
WAIANAE, Hawaii (Island News) — An hours-long standoff at an apartment complex in Waianae has come to an end. Honolulu Police announced that they arrested the suspect just before 8 a.m.
Authorities have not said yet what prompted the massive police response, however, sources close to the investigation tell Island News that deputy sheriffs were serving an eviction notice around 10 a.m. on Thursday to someone on Ala Walua Street and it turned into a barricade situation that lasted nearly 20 hours.
Police, sheriffs and SWAT responded to the scene after a man barricaded himself into an apartment in Waianae on Thursday. The large police presence drew the attention of neighbors, who spoke to Island News about what they saw.
