CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — Anyone wondering whether the race for the 5th District Congressional Seat between Representative Bob Good and State Senator John McGuire is tight should look at the numbers.
According to the Virginia Public Access Project, Good raised over $307,000 in the first quarter of 2024.
McGuire, his Republican primary opponent, raised over $290,000, according to VPAP. But, in a release, McGuire’s team claims he outraised Good, receiving $325,000 in the first quarter of 2024.
Kyle Kondik with the UVA Center for Politics says, regardless of McGuire’s amount, these numbers are indicative of a close race.
