The GOP’s fiscal plan would raise the age for social security to an age they have failed to specify. It would also reduce social security benefits for those who earned a higher salary before retirement and impose limits on Medicare benefits.
“Their plan is to give seniors and people who are on Medicare a certain set amount of money per month to be able to go out onto the open insurance market,” Nouri said.
One political expert said privatizing Medicare could be financially detrimental to senior citizens and their families.
“You might be looking at younger people, their children, their grandchildren, that might be having to chip in to help support their grandparents or their parents,” Baldwin Wallace University political science professor, Tom Sutton told 21 News.
