NEW YORK (WABC) – A 2-year-old boy was hit by a stray bullet when a gunman opened fire on a New York City street where the toddler was walking with his mother.
The incident happened around 1:45 p.m. Saturday in the Bronx. Police say the shooter opened fire on a group of young men in front of a Capital One Bank. The group sprinted across the street, where the bullets continued flying right into the window of a TD Bank.
Police say no one inside the bank was hit, but a 2-year-old boy walking outside with his mother was struck in the hip with a bullet. The toddler was taken to the hospital, where he will undergo surgery.
Nana Kwame, the manager of a clothing store in the area, was working when gunfire erupted just outside, shaking him.
