Two police officers injured after fight and shooting in West Haven NBC Connecticut [Video]

Two police officers were injured after a reported fight and shooting in West Haven on Monday night.

Police said they were alerted to a fight that happened on a West Haven beach. A responding officer was assaulted and sustained injuries.

Officials said about 2,000 people gathered at the beach after hearing about it on social media.

Several fights broke out at the beach and multiple arrests were made, according to authorities.

After the fight, officers were called to a reported shooting at a nearby gas station. Another officer was hurt while making an arrest, according to police.

Both officers sustained minor injuries. Police don’t know if the fight and shooting are related.

A man that was walking by the gas station was shot. He has minor injuries, police said.

“It was just an indiscriminate act by people that have no wellbeing for anybody else,” Police Chief Joe Perno said.
