BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. – The U.S. House of Representatives extended the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) today without a proposed change requiring warrants to query data collected under the law on American people and American organizations.
Action News Now anchor Hayley Watts spoke with Congressman Doug LaMalfa about why he voted against the extension of FISA.
“I feel like the warrant requirement was important because we’ve seen so much abuse of people’s information by the FBI in recent cases in the last couple of years, and people just don’t have a lot of confidence, so I think we need to have that initial safeguard even if it becomes more of an impediment,” Rep.
