UConns Tristen Newton inducted into the Huskies of Honor [Video]

STORRS, CT (WFSB) – University of Connecticut men’s basketball guard Tristen Newton had his name etched into the annals of UConn history on Tuesday night.

Newton was inducted into UConn’s “Huskies of Honor” during the team’s welcome home celebration at Gampel Pavilion.

The East Carolina transfer spent the last two seasons with the Huskies and was pivotal in both the 2023 and 2024 national championships

Newton scored 20 points in the win over Purdue on Monday night and earned the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player award.

He led UConn in scoring with 15.1 points per game and 6.2 assists per game.

The protests over the war in Gaza that have gripped college campuses across the U.S. came to a head Tuesday night as violent clashes erupted between pro-Palestinian protesters and counter-protesters at UCLA and police moved to arrest dozens of demonstrators who occupied a building at Columbia University. CBS News' Carter Evans and Lilia Luciano have the latest on the protests.
