University of Nebraska-Lincoln s Shave for the Brave celebrates 24th year [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – For more than two decades, students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln have been doing their part to help a national cause and childhood cancer research.

The annual Shave for the Brave event took place over this past weekend, raising money for St. Baldrick’s, a foundation that aims to conquer childhood cancer.

On Saturday, eight students shaved their heads to support cancer patients. The hair was then donated to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program, which provides wigs for thousands of women.

Outside of the main event, attendees also played bingo to raise funds.

Since 2000, coordinators of Shave for the Brave have had to find a balance of making the event fun while also remembering why they’re there.
