US’ Palantir, Korea’s HD Hyundai come together [Video]

South Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has partnered with Palantir, a US-based AI firm, to develop an unmanned surface vessel for the navy’s reconnaissance missions.

Both companies plan to develop it by 2026 and will later expand it to build automated surface vessels for combat.

On April 14, HD Hyundai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Palantir in Washington, D.C. “The unmanned ship market is a new blue ocean dominated by cutting-edge technology,” said Wonho Joo, CEO of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. “We will pioneer this field based on the achievements and trust that both companies have built up so far.”
