Veterans Share their Experiences from the 26th Greater Lafayette Honor Flight | Local [Video]

Veterans across Greater Lafayette made their way to our nation’s capital in honor of their military service. News 18’s Vinny Martorano flew with them and captured the experience.

WASHINGTON D.C (WLFI) – Eighty-four veterans flew to Washington D.C on the 26th Greater Lafayette Honor Flight.

Of the 84 veterans on the trip, Donald Nead and Nick Zello are the only two who served in World War II. They say the memorial brings back memories from their days of service.

“An event that changed my life,” Nead said. “My brother came home. He said to me after we got into an argument, w’hy don’t you enlist’? Two days later, I did.”

“When I was 17, I quit school and joined the Navy. I enjoyed being at sea,” Zello said.

Ken Leudtke is one of 82 Vietnam War veterans on the flight. He says it’s great to see their service be recognized …
