SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Ten people suspected of entering the U.S. illegally were arrested Wednesday after a vessel washed ashore in North County, authorities said.

The vessel was first detected by U.S. Customs Border and Protection’s San Diego Air and Marine Branch traveling northbound toward Solana Beach early in the morning, Michael J. Scappechio with U.S. Customs Border and Protection confirmed to FOX 5/KUSI. It made landfall around 6:50 a.m. near Del Mar Shores.

Video obtained by FOX 5/KUSI shows the vessel land on the shore and several people begin to run away from the shoreline and toward the bluffs.

Authorities placed ten people under arrest, but CBP is still searching for others who may have escaped.

The vessel and a nearby vehicle suspected of being involved in the alleged smuggling event were seized, according to CBP.
