It’s sad but true, many Pennsylvanians seem to have given up on democracy.
That’s a reasonable conclusion from what was described as the “super low turnout” in Tuesday’s primary where voters in both parties were asked to decide their nominees for some super important races.
First, there was the race for the presidency where President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump were expected to dominate their respective fields. They did, albeit with some symbolic protest votes designed to send warning signals to both parties.
There also were races for congress, the state legislature and key government offices like auditor general, attorney general and treasurer – all powerful positions that impact the daily lives of people in our commonwealth.
No matter. Most Pennsylvania voters just didn’t seem to care. They didn’t care enough to trek to the polls on a bright, sunny day and walk right into a booth to cast their vote. Many didn’t care enough to even put a stamp on a ballot …
