Warning issued to Texas drivers during the total solar eclipse [Video]

Traffic is expected to be heavy Monday with sudden stops by drivers. Drivers should plan ahead and get their viewing location early.

With the Great American Eclipse upon us, TxDOT is also warning drivers to plan for extra traffic and to get to their viewing location early. They also want drivers to know they should not be pulling over and parking on the shoulder of highways to view the eclipse.

Like always, drivers are encouraged to avoid distractions while driving – including putting their cell phone down, turning it off, or using the phone’s settings to block texts and calls while driving.

Traffic is expected to be heavy Monday with sudden stops by drivers.

TxDOT is also encouraging drivers to keep their headlights on while driving during the solar eclipse with skies expected to get dark.
