Bo Nix couldn’t believe it when he heard the news. The quarterback would again be throwing passes to Troy Franklin, his favorite wide receiver in college.
The Denver Broncos used the No. 12 overall pick to select the former Oregon Ducks’ star quarterback on Day 1 in last week’s NFL draft. Two days later, they picked the Ducks’ wide receiver in the fourth round (No. 102).
The two reunited teammates FaceTimed each other.
“Big dog! He’s a Bronco!,” Nix screamed. “Man, I’m so excited for you, bro. I’m so excited. Like, that couldn’t have worked out more perfect. I’m so excited, dude. They’re getting a steal.”
“It’s over for them,” Franklin replied.
Reuniting with Nix will lessen the sting for Franklin, who dropped into the fourth round after being projected as a second- or third-round pick in the draft.
