Watch parties and events planned to mark solar eclipse [Video]

(WGGB/WSHM) – With The Great American Eclipse just a few days away, watch parties are in the works as people all across western Massachusetts are gearing up for the big event.

While the region is not in the path of totality for our upcoming solar eclipse on Monday, we are still on tap for a great show. In Springfield, American International College is holding a watch party out on the quad the day of the eclipse. Giavanna Worthy, AIC’s associate director for student engagement, told Western Mass News that hosting a watch party right on-campus was a no brainer for them.

“We want to celebrate the solar eclipse and have an opportunity for AIC community to come together and celebrate this rare occasion,” Worthy noted.

AIC will be giving out eclipse glasses for students to come by and grab, so they can safely experience the eclipse with their fellow classmates. …
