WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Record Store Day is the biggest day of the year for record stores, and it will have a big impact on many record stores across the city.

Record Store Day is coming up on April 20 and is music to the ears of Tony Stroud, the Co-owner of Wilmington’s New and Used Vinyl Record Bar on Oleander Drive.

Record Store Day is an international event that started in 2007 to help bring business to struggling independent record stores. Stroud describes the day as a partnership between music artists and labels to sell exclusive records at independently owned record stores.

Now, with the industry surging in recent years, the day is a call to mecca for many vinyl fans.
