The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday near 52nd Avenue and Van Buren Street.
The man who was killed has been identified as 47-year-old James Leslie Barnes II, while the other man claimed self-defense and has been released from custody.
The fire broke out around 11 p.m. Friday near 70th Avenue and Indian School Road. The man and young child are now in critical condition at an area burn center.
