Body found washed up on South Carolina shore, officials say [Video]

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC/Gray News) – South Carolina officials are investigating after they said a body washed up on shore Sunday morning.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to James Island around 10:30 Sunday morning after reports were made of a body ashore, just off Wampler Drive.

The body was that of a white man who was between the ages of 20 and 30 years old. Authorities said there were no obvious signs of trauma.

The sheriff’s office’s Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Services Unit have reportedly been notified along with the county coroner.

The investigation continues but officials said there is no known danger to the community.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office said the victim’s identity will be released when it is available.
