Bondi Junction attacker was known to Queensland police but never charged, police say video | Australia news

Queensland police say Joel Cauchi, the 40-year-old man named as the attacker who stabbed six people to death and seriously wounded 12 others including an infant at the Westfield shopping centre in Sydney’s Bondi Junction, was known to them but never arrested in the state or charged with a criminal offence. Queensland police say the last interaction they had with Cauchi was in December 2023 on the Gold Coast and he was not in regular contact with his family
