March is Women’s History Month, so Central Maine Power found it fitting to host a group of 50 Girl Scouts of Maine for a career-focused open house.

PORTLAND, Maine — There’s a misconception that the skilled trades are a male-dominated field, but throughout the years more and more women have chosen these types of careers.

March is Women’s History Month, so Central Maine Power found it fitting to host a group of 50 Girl Scouts of Maine who have been selected by lottery for what is essentially a career-focused open house with various activities. 

The open house in April 16 will focus on promoting careers for women in engineering, the trades, and utilities. Girl scouts will get to go up into a bucket truck as its arm is raised and learn how the machines are used to help restore power. The girls will also have the chance to visit CMP’s Energy Control Center and learn about careers both there …
