IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – No surprises. No drama. Caitlin Clark has been drafted #1 overall in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever.

Clark, who became major college basketball’s all-time leading scorer this season on the way to being the consensus national player of the year in back-to-back seasons, has transformed women’s basketball at the collegiate level, breaking attendance ratings and scoring records. The women’s NCAA championship game drew a bigger television audience than the men’s title game for the first time, with an average of 18.9 million viewers.

“I’ve never seen a player with this impact on the road or on the ratings,” ESPN analyst Rebecca Lobo said. “The first year of the league there was hype around Lisa (Leslie), Sheryl (Swoopes), and me with a lot of commercials, but there wasn’t the hype where people could watch us play like there has been with Caitlin.”
